1. Minutes of last AGM: Accepted
2. Membership: Numbers / Costs:
232
members to date which is a fairly healthy
number for the time of year. Agreed to continue the same
fees for the next
year. Queries were raised about whether dual qualified
teachers/therapists
should have full or associate membership. It was decided that this
should
depend on the post they hold (e.g. if working as an SLT should be full
members, if working as a teacher should be associate members). It was
felt
that the policy for non practising SLTs should be the same as
independent
SLTs and can receive course information. We have had a request from a
department in the Scottish borders to become part of
NESTA. It was agreed
that they would be welcome to join as long as they have a rep who would
be
released to attend meetings, as in other areas.

Thank you to all the Reps who have worked so hard to ensure that the
courses have ran smoothly.
Thank you also to all who are currently researching and organising the
many courses planned for the year ahead.
Reps
Our meeting are well attended and we
continue to have Reps from most North East Trusts.
There have been a number of new Reps in recent months, so we welcome you
all and thank you for volunteering to help NESTA run courses.
Committee
I have enjoyed my role as Chair this year.
Thank you to Jennie who as Vice-Chair provides support and back-up.
Thank you to Margaret as Treasurer who works very hard and puts in a
lot of time to ensure that NESTA's finances are always up to date.
Thank you also to Gillian who works hard as Secretary to keep
everything running smoothly.
Admin Support
Marj has continued to provide us with excellent admin support and
always makes
running courses much less stressful. She is to leave her post in
Gateshead later this year but we are very pleased that she is willing to
carry on as admin support for NESTA. Thank you Marj for all the work you
have for us done over the last year.
Account Support:
We are very pleased to have recently appointed Bridget from South
Tyneside who is doing a brilliant job of helping with our accounts. Her
organised and efficient support is invaluable and has really helped ease
Margaret's workload as Treasurer.
The Website:
Continued thanks to Rajan for dedicating his time to the efficient
running of our website. He always makes sure it is up to date and looks
very professional.
The Year Ahead
The year ahead looks like a busy time for NESTA. There are already
many courses being planned and researched. We have also submitted an
article to RCSLT Bulletin about NESTA for their consideration and await
their response regarding the possibility of publication.
4. Treasurer's Report:
See report attached. The accountants report does not show
an accurate picture of the financial situation as several courses had
recently been paid for and payments from delegates were due. However, the
bank balance was described as 'uncomfortably low' and NESTA will be
unable to subsidise courses as heavily this year. A working party has
been set up
involving the committee, Carolyn Ellis and Chris Chilcott to look at
ways in which to resolve this.
5. Election of Officers:
The following
committee members were elected/re-elected:
Chair:
Jill Curry
Vice Chair:
Jennie Morgan has stood down as she is soon to go on maternity
leave. Congratulations and many thanks to her for her hard work. Nicola
Head has taken the role.
Treasurer:
Margaret Bhudoye
Vice Treasurer:
There is still no-one in this role. It is vital someone comes
forward soon to fill this role which has become much easier since
Bridget has now taken the role of accounts support. Election for this
role has been carried forward to the next meeting. Secretary:
Gillian McCreesh
Vice Secretary:
Fiona Warriner is on maternity leave but will resume the role when she
returns.
6. AOB: It
was agreed that it would be possible to email course information etc.
Marj took
email addresses for those who would like information sent this
way, any reps who
weren't present but want information on email are to
inform Marj.
