1. Minutes of last AGM: Accepted
2. Membership Types:
Changes to
membership categories were discussed. It wasagreed
that instead of full membership, which has previously only been open to
SLTs,there
would be 'Professional' membership open to SLTs, teachers, educational
psychologists costing £12 per year. Associate membership would then
apply to SLT assistants, classroom assistants, nursery nurses, EYPs etc
costing £4.
Membership
numbers:
Membership numbers have been changed so that
all numbers now end in the year of
membership (e.g. 12307). This should prevent confusion to
who is a current NESTA member.
3.
Course Costings: The new method of costing
courses was discussed and agreed.
Main changes include incorporating an admin fee,
basing course fees on the mid
range number of potential participants and having a minimum course cost set at
£40
per person. The new costing sheet will be put on the website. This method of
costing
will be reviewed at the next AGM.
4.
Committee roles:
It was
agreed that committee members can get a free place on
their choice of course every 2 years and would be under no pressure to run a
course
themselves. It was agreed that committee members should only stand for a maximum
of 3 years for the treasurer role and a maximum of 2 years for any other
committee
roles.
5.
Constitution:
Would need to be reworded to reflect
the above changes. This will
be circulated separately and also be put on the website.
6. Chairperson's Report: Click to view
7.
Treasurer's Report:
This report will be sent separately. The final balance is
much healthier this year than at the
same point last year. Reps are urged to claim
mileage if
travelling to meetings and are unable to claim mileage elsewhere.
Current
memberships are lower
than last year at 173. Reps have had comments from
colleagues that they are not
keen to join as training budgets are so tight they are
unable to access training.
8.
Elections:
The following committee
members were elected/re-elected:
Chair: Jill Curry
stood down.
Many thanks to her for all
her hard work and commitment to NESTA over many
years as Chair and Vice
Chair and a very active rep. Nicola Head has taken on the
role.
Vice Chair: Nicola
Head moved to the role of Chair. Kate Laws has taken on the
role.
Secretary: Gillian
McCreesh
Vice Secretary: Fiona
Warriner has resumed the role.
Treasurer: Margaret
Bhudoye stood down. Many thanks to Margaret who is our
longest serving rep and
committee member and has single-handedly transformed
NESTA's accounts. Her hard
work and commitment has been unfailing over many
years. No-one stood for the
role.
Vice Treasurer: Fiona
Menger has taken on the role.
6. AOB:
It was agreed
NESTA could not function without a treasurer so all
memberships and
courses have been put on hold. An extraordinary meeting has been
set to
hopefully find someone to take on this role and discuss options to make
this role
easier. It was
agreed that if no-one is found then NESTA will have to fold. Reps are
asked to consider taking this role or asking in departments to see if a
non-rep would
like to come
forward. All options will be considered including paying someone to do
the accounts. All reps are urged
to attend with ideas of how to resolve the situation.
